Bristol Hospitality Network (BHN) was established by a group of concerned local residents who wanted to offer their spare rooms to asylum seekers experiencing destitution.

A Step Change grant and a grant from the Bristol 2015 Small Grants Fund totaling £18,700

RECEIVERS

BHN is a network of host families, individuals and shared households who offer destitute asylum seekers in Bristol somewhere to stay.  BHN also runs as a food growing project run from BHN’s community allotment in Speedwell.

OUTPUT

The Step change grant has enabled BHN to grow their network and make it more sustainable, and the grant from the Bristol 2015 Small Grants Fund has enabled the food growing project to be run giving asylum seekers and refugees access to green outside space; participate in food growing and receive free fresh vegetables; cook, and and relax and to meet new people.

OUTCOME

This funding will meant greater opportunities and support for a very vulnerable and hard-to reach group of people with the food growing project giving asylum seekers and refugees access to green outside space; participate in food growing and receive free fresh vegetables; cook, and and relax and to meet new people.
