Thirty Lives Changed
To celebrate our 30th anniversary in 2017 we have approached some of the groups and individuals we’ve helped over our long history, and also those who made and continue to make our work possible, supporting communities to improve things where they live in a sustainable and inspiring way.
Here we share their stories – thirty lives changed over thirty years.
This collection of stories will build throughout our anniversary year, and is just a snapshot of the difference that thoughtful and responsive philanthropy can make to people living difficult lives or facing challenges.
There are so many more than thirty of course; even with our modern reporting we’ll never be sure how many thousands of lives our grant-making has touched over our history, working as we do with the vibrant and passionate community of life-changing community organisations active in the West of England.
Helen Bone – exploring a future built by communities themselves
Jill Hoggans – finding purpose in community volunteering
Jo Turner – helping young people leaving care
Charlotte – supported to “be a family again”
Julie Close – building a hub at the heart of the community
Richard Pendlebury – on a mission for social justice
Helen Moss – how to change a life
Kat – a place to “be yourself” for one night a week
Bristol Port Company – steering young lives in the right direction
