About us
Local philanthropy for the West of England
The West of England is a place that inspires people to put down strong roots and care deeply about the issues facing people living here.
Quartet is the local community foundation for the region, covering the old Avon boundary – Bath & North East Somerset, Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. We help ordinary people do extraordinary things that make our local communities thrive and improve the lives of people who live here.
Our local philanthropy teams across the region match people who want to give money to local causes they care about, helping them make the biggest impact with their giving.
The challenges facing our communities are many, and local philanthropy has never been more needed. From the cost of living crisis to climate change, there are huge challenges ahead that our community sector needs sustained help to meet.
Through the generosity of our donors and the long term endowment fund that we’ve grown together, we award over a thousand grants each year to charities and community groups doing outstanding work on the ground. These grants help to ensure that they can grow and continue, tackling local issues and providing essential support, care and opportunity to the most vulnerable in our communities.
“Quartet Community Foundation has an even more critical role to play in the post-pandemic world. Charities are going to encounter increasing challenges and it is likely that one of the fastest growing areas of income will be via an increasing number of philanthropists. Quartet’s ability to target funding where it is most needed, will be a vital incentive in engaging with philanthropists and increasing their donors. Thank you for all your support – it really is a lifeline.”
Bath Mind
Deep rooted change for our region
We want to see positive long term change for our region. Our aim is to make a profound difference to people’s lives, now and far into the future. A West of England with strong, inclusive communities and the resources to meet local needs and goals. A fairer, greener West of England, a place in which everyone has the opportunity to fulfil their potential, a place for all to thrive.
What we do
A permanent local resource
To improve quality of life and meet long term community needs we need resources with longevity. Most of our funds are endowed, which means that we invest donations and use this resulting income to award grants to local charitable and voluntary groups year on year. In this way donations continue to make an impact locally, forever.
All funds raised are invested back into the region to make a real difference to local lives. Led by our local knowledge and insight, we encourage local philanthropy and direct support to where it is most needed.
