Global issue, local support?

Global issues reach our doorstep

The constant challenge in our world are the never-ending conflicts that cause human beings throughout the world a lot of pain and anguish.

But every cloud has a silver lining and it’s heartening to see how many people stand up and help where and when they can.

It’s hard not to engage when a callout for help happens.

Global charities are working hard to support those in harm’s way. On the ground. In numerous countries. Month in, month out.

For some people affected by conflicts, relief comes when they reach our shores, but that’s not the end of their story.

Far from it.

If you know where to look, you’ll find victims of modern day slavery right now in our cities, refugees struggling with mental health problems, child poverty, harmful practices such as FGM (female genital mutilation), people who want to contribute to our society but who can’t because they don’t yet speak the language well enough and so much more.

So when you are watching or reading the news remember that those global issues are here on our doorstep too – and you can help.

If you are thinking of choosing your charity of the year, or cause of the year (see our thoughts on A different way….) a few hundred pounds or a few thousand, will go a long way to supporting a small local charity that helps people whose lives have been turned upside down by these global conflicts.

Just a thought.

Quartet Community Foundation knows where to find these charities, and will get your donations through to help those in need.  Get in touch to find out more.
