Leave a Legacy
Leave your community stronger, now and forever
Leaving a legacy to Quartet Community Foundation is a simple way for you to leave money to benefit the local community for generations to come and create something of real and lasting value to local people.
With Quartet, all legacy gifts are invested and only the income is used year after year. In this way, your gift will keep on giving as it remains as a permanent fund through us.
The late Ron Barnes, a local businessman and scientist, was passionate about giving young people opportunities and left a legacy to Quartet Community Foundation to continue the charitable work in his name to benefit hundreds of local students for years to come.
How your legacy will help
Each year Quartet makes hundreds of grants to charities and voluntary groups in the West of England, benefitting thousands of local people, but there are always many worthwhile applications that we turn down or can’t accept through lack of funds.
A legacy, of whatever size, would enable us to help more charities and voluntary groups to do what they do so well – meet community aspirations and make a profound difference to people’s lives in our region.
Your generosity could help us fund projects and work like these:
How it works with Quartet
- A legacy of £25,000 or more can be used to set up a Named Permanent Fund – a way of associating your name with the local community forever and a way to specify the causes or area that you want to support. Your fund will be invested, and the income used every year according to your wishes. Gifts of this size could also be used to set up a Memorial Fund as a permanent tribute to a departed relative, friend or colleague.
- Legacy gifts of up to £25,000 are pooled with other donations into our General Permanent Fund. The income generated is used to benefit a broad range of local causes.
- Legacy gifts are exempt from inheritance tax and could reduce the total amount of tax paid on your estate.
- For our fund holders who have set up a fund in their lifetime, a legacy gift can be added to their Fund increasing the amount of grant making possible.
- We accept legacy gifts of property, cash, shares and other investments.
