Our Surviving Winter appeal has already raised £7,500 for projects helping local people facing fuel poverty, isolation and financial pressures in winter. And those donations are already helping people.
We’ve this week made a £5,000 grant to Bristol Energy Network. Thanks to our generous donors this money will help them get information and advice to people at risk of fuel poverty this winter.

Rachel Moffat from Bristol Energy Network:
“We started running a pilot ‘Energy Help Desk’ scheme in food banks, food clubs, children’s centres and drop-in centres to advise people on how to lower their energy bills through saving energy in the home and applying for Warm Home Discounts. We have found that people are very concerned about their bills at the moment.
“The soaring energy costs, due to the raise in the energy price cap and the increase of global gas prices, have come at the same time as the end of the Universal Credit uplift. We want to do our best to reach out to those in or at risk of fuel poverty and help them find ways to reduce their bills this winter.
“This grant will enable us to sustain our ‘Energy Help Desks’ through the winter by training up and supporting frontline staff and volunteers to become Energy Champions and advise people who are struggling with their fuel bills.”
