More Trees BANES is a small local charity based in Bath that brings people together to grow, plant and care for trees. They are passionate about the positive impact of trees not only on the local environment, but on our health and wellbeing too. Set up by volunteers in 2008, More Trees has planted around 16,000 trees in Bath and North East Somerset.
Central to their work is the network of community and school-based tree nurseries they have developed which helps neighbours, pupils, families and volunteers learn practical skills, make new connections and improve their local green spaces.
The Schools Tree Nursery Programme was launched in 2022 and is delivered free to participating schools. Each school has a mini-tree nursery producing trees for the charity and the pupils at each school get involved with planting out of young trees, caring for these through the year and then lifting them ready for planting in their permanent position as part of More Trees planting programme.
In 2025 More Trees was awarded a £5,000 from the Bath and West Community Energy Fund grant programme, to help them expand this work by delivering a minimum of 60 high-quality sessions across six schools in 2025 – 2026. The grant also helped fund two schools officers to run sessions with the pupils, and carry out training for volunteers to help support this.

This funding enables us to continue this work providing it free to schools that otherwise would not be able to participate in this type of activity.”
