Communities across Bristol have already identified the climate and nature action they want to see in their neighbourhoods. Now, a new fund will help turn those ambitions into reality.
We are proud to be working in partnership with Bristol Climate & Nature Partnership to launch the Community Climate & Nature Action Fund, creating a new opportunity for businesses, philanthropists and other supporters to invest in visible, community-led environmental projects across the city.
The fund builds on five years of work through Bristol Climate & Nature Partnership’s Community Climate & Nature Action Project, which has engaged thousands of local residents in developing community climate and nature action plans. More than half of those involved were new to climate and nature action, helping shape priorities that will strengthen climate resilience, support biodiversity and improve life locally.
The new fund has been designed to make it easier for communities to access the support they need to deliver nature-based projects that reflect local priorities.
Together with Osborne Clarke and some Quartet philanthropists, we have raised a combined £40,000 for the first phase of funding. This investment will enable four community organisations to deliver practical projects that enhance nature, build resilience and benefit local people.
“We are delighted to be working with Bristol Climate & Nature Partnership to support communities as they respond to the challenges of climate change. The plans developed by local residents reflect the unique needs and priorities of their neighbourhoods, and this fund will help communities bring those ambitions to life. While the fund is initially focused on Bristol, we would love to see it grow across Bath and North East Somerset, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. We welcome conversations with funders and philanthropists who share our commitment to climate action and community resilience.”
