In April 2025 we launched the Scantlebury Challenge, offering new and existing donors the opportunity to increase new donations to Quartet by 50%. Thanks to our generous donors, we’ve achieved our goal. Together we raised over £3 million in new funds, creating a powerful foundation that will support communities across the West of England for years to come.
How matched giving amplifies support for local charities
Our fund holder Neil Foster took advantage of matched giving to set up his fund in 2012.He knew that he wanted to grow his fund over time, so when Neil sadly lost his father last year, he chose to use his inheritance to add to his fund, boosting his gift further through the matched giving Scantlebury Challenge.
We work closely with Neil to make grants to causes that are close to him, particularly offering support to organisations working with young people and their mental health.

“I’ve never wanted to own a yacht or have the finest things in life. Being a teacher showed me how much some families struggle. I’m so grateful for the financial security I have and the stability it has brought my mental health and freedom in life, and I would like that for other people. The funding advice I have received from Quartet has been invaluable”.
Supporting local communities
With strong ties throughout the West of England, we have exceptional insight into the needs of our local communities. The Scantlebury Challenge aims to support small, local organisations dedicated to assisting those facing inequality and disadvantage within their communities.
Making a difference
For small charitable groups, sustained and modest funding can make a significant impact. Like The Family Centre (Deaf Children) who received a grant of £985 to support families living with hearing loss through outdoor activities and sports.
“For our Deaf 2 year old, it provided a chance to run about and have fun with lots of other kids – some wearing hearing tech, some not; some Deaf, some not; some signing, some not. It makes everything so normal, and this is so important for his Deaf identity because he’s very conscious.” Parent, The Family Centre (Deaf Children)
