The last 12 months have been hugely challenging for our local charities

Our fund holders and donors have responded with great compassion to their inspiring work. This has allowed us to reach a significant milestone – since 1 April 2020, near the start of the first lockdown, we’ve funded 930 projects with grants totalling over £5m.

It’s exactly what we were set up to do, and with your support these grants have helped bring communities together at a time of unprecedented need. Whether it’s been offering telephone support to older carers or delivering emergency food boxes to families in need, or hundreds of other essential activities.

The funding went to 930 projects including those helping people hit by Covid-19 such as Green Community Travel in South Gloucestershire

A snap-shot of a remarkable year transformed by your generosity

Our unaudited accounts for the year ending 31 March 2021 show:

  • grants made – over £5.1m
  • donations received – over £15m
  • number of new funds – 7 (one permanent endowment & six revenue funds)
  • endowment value over £54m.

As I look forward to welcoming our new CEO, Suzanne Rolt, who joins next week, I want to say a big thank you. Whether you’re one of our fund holders, donors, staff, volunteers, a trustee such as Raj pictured above, or one of the amazing local projects we support. Your relationship with us has been of huge help in responding to the needs and ambitions of thousands of local people during a turbulent year. We continue to respond to the needs of our local charities through Covid and beyond. And I look forward to continuing our work together so that everyone in the West of England can fulfil their potential.
